101 Digital Education: Empowering Communities to Prevent and End GBV Online

November 28, 2025

In today’s digital world, safety goes beyond our homes and communities — it extends to the spaces where we learn, work, share, and connect online. As part of WLEDE’s commitment to ending Gender-Based Violence (GBV), our 101 Digital Education initiative equips individuals and communities with the knowledge and tools they need to stay safe, empowered, and informed in the digital age.

Digital spaces offer powerful opportunities for learning, advocacy, and expressing our voices. Yet, they also present risks such as cyberbullying, online harassment, misinformation, and exploitation — challenges that disproportionately affect women and girls. Through accessible online guides, simplified learning materials, and interactive content, WLEDE is creating a safer and more inclusive digital environment for everyone.

Our 101 Digital Education content covers:

  • Online Safety Basics — how to protect your personal information and digital identity.
  • Recognizing Online GBV — understanding signs of digital harassment and abuse.
  • Practical Prevention Tips — securing your accounts, reporting harmful content, and staying safe on social platforms.
  • Digital Rights & Responsibility — empowering communities to use the internet responsibly and respectfully.
  • Positive Digital Engagement — using online platforms for learning, advocacy, and community support.

By strengthening digital literacy, we help individuals — especially women and youth — take control of their online presence, respond to online threats, and build safer spaces where everyone can thrive.

WLEDE remains committed to transforming both physical and digital spaces into environments free from violence, promoting equality, respect, and empowerment for all.
