Uganda Olympic Committee Gender Equality and Diversity Commission joined the rest of the world to commemorate International Women’s Day (IWD)ON 8TH March 2023 on Saturday 24th March 2023 at Kitante Hill School. Kampala, Uganda under the theme “Embracing Equity, Diversity & Girls Inclusion in Sports”.

The Gender Equality and Diversity Commission brought together girls from six different schools in Uganda to share the barriers of inequality, the embrace of equity, diversity and inclusion of girls in sports as well as finding locally tailored solutions collectively to have more girls participate in the sports arena in Uganda.

The Executive Director Ms. Edith Ssali delivered career guidance on effective sports leadership and mentored the young girls on the pillars of leadership in the 21 century in an interactive career guidance session. Emphasizing pillars such as nobility, humility, empathy, foresight and most notably continuous hard work.

This is a continuation of WLEDEs flagship Annual Youth Program that has been running for the last decade since 2013 as we continue to nurture the next generation of leaders for sustainable development. Our next engagement shall be during the sports day of Trinity College Nabbingo on 1^st April 2023.
