In our bid to continue strengthening our capacity as a model organization, WLEDE undertook peer learning sessions with the Kabarole Women’s Health Support Initiative (KWHSI) that took place at their offices in Fort Portal City on the 3rd and 4th of May 2023. The Kabarole Women Health Support Initiative is a key Population led CBO registered in 2017 based in Fort Portal City. KWHSI was established to ensure a society that respects and achieves the highest possible standards of health, human rights, and socio-economic empowerment. KWHSI focuses on supporting marginalized women focusing on sex workers to improve their working conditions in Kabarole and Ntoroko Districts.
We used the activity to learn, and benchmark best practices on documentation, advocacy, visibility, resource and volunteer (skilled and unskilled) mobilization, sustainability, and implementation strategies, tools, and practices used. KWHSI was carefully selected because of the unique organizational model posed with special consideration given to the social enterprise.
