Today, WLEDE proudly joins the global community in launching the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, under the 2025 theme “Invest to Prevent Violence Against Women & Girls.” As one of Uganda’s leading women’s rights and leadership development organisations, WLEDE reaffirms its commitment to building a nation where every woman and girl is safe, valued, empowered, and able to lead.
This year, WLEDE is taking the campaign fully digital through the “Digital Orange Wave”, a 16-day online activism movement designed to educate, amplify survivor voices, engage youth, mobilise male champions, and inspire strong political and community action. The campaign will feature daily online posts, digital dialogues, website articles, infographics, survivor stories, policy calls, and inspiring leadership messages.
In her launch message, the Executive Director emphasised that ending violence against women and girls is not only a moral duty but a smart investment in Uganda’s economic prosperity, peace, and governance. “When we invest in her safety, we invest in Uganda’s future. Violence holds back the progress of women, families, and communities. We must stand together to stop it,” she said.
Throughout the next 16 days, WLEDE will spotlight the realities faced by women and girls in Uganda, celebrate champions of change, and call for stronger commitment from political leaders, institutions, and society at large. We invite all our supporters, partners, youth, leaders, and communities to join the movement online, share our daily content, and help build a digital wave of solidarity.
