WLEDE is a non-profit organisation established in October 2012 to develop leadership capacity,
of women and youth leaders, making them pro-active and able to contribute and sustain the
development of Uganda through Promoting democracy & good governance practice and
respecting human dignity.
WLEDE is seeking to recruit a qualified and passionate person to reinforce its capacity in the
programs department.
Position: Project Officer
Duty Station: Lira District, Northern Uganda.
Main Purpose of the Job:
The Project Officer will be responsible for implementing all project activities with diligence and
responsibility. In implementing the project activities, the Project Officer will ensure that a
participatory process involving all key stakeholders is followed through and that activities are
accomplished on schedule and to standard.
Roles and Responsibilities include:
Provide high level implementation of activities aiming to promote best practice in
leadership capacity development, human rights, gender equality and community
responsibility aspects by:
 Implementing activities as per log frame and project document.
 Proactively develop initiatives that will support the achievement of the project goal.
 Reporting lessons learnt during project activities and identify trends/emerging issues for
review and replication
 Contributing to the achievement of WLEDE’s strategic plan.
 Disseminating reports, learning materials or training interventions that will promote best
practice in dealing with social transformation.
Participate in monitoring and evaluation of WLEDE and Partner activities and ensure
efficiency, accountability and impact by:
 Prompt accountability for activities implemented as stipulated in the policies
 Compiling the collected data in order to identify lessons learned and any gaps or
challenges;
 Documenting, circulate and securely store all reports and documentation associated with
project activities
 Disseminating reports to the beneficiaries and stakeholders promptly
Represent WLEDE to stakeholders; at all times behaving according to high standards of
professionalism by:

 Keeping up to date with standards of professionalism and WLEDE’s expectations
concerning personal behaviour and values at all times
 Taking opportunities to promote WLEDE in the community, including displaying
infomercial material as appropriate
Person specifications:
Qualifications:
 Degree in Development/Social work and Social Administration/Education
 PGD (or any quaification) in gender studies (an added advantage)
 Diploma or certificate in Project Management
Job related experience and knowledge:
 At least three (3) years’ of progressive professional experience in development work
 Proven track record in managing relations with different stakeholders and communities
 Experience in training/facilitation of trainings
 Fluent in the Luo language and an indigenous of Lira will be an added advantage.
 Experience of project management
 Hands on experience in ME&L (optional)
