International Women’s Day

The momentous Day is finally upon us yet again, but this one will be different as we get to celebrate it together after what seems like an eternity.The day offers an opportunity to reflect on progress made, recognize and celebrate the acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities and honor their leadership and contribution towards a sustainable future.

The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is “Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow” which continues to push for SDG 5 which is to “Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls”.This year’s official celebrations will be held at the Kololo independence grounds.
Women all across the world have taken quite the journey and very bold steps since The first National Woman’s Day was observed in the United States on February 28 1909, and WLEDE belives we still have a long way to go.
But together we can get there, and together we shall!
