Enhancing observance of fundamental human rights for peaceful co-existence among the indigenous and migrant communities in Kyenjojo, Kyegegwa, and Kamwenge Districts- Rwenzori region
Through the 3-year project “Enhancing observance of fundamental human rights for peaceful co-existence among the indigenous and migrant communities in
Kyenjojo, Kyegegwa, and Kamwenge Districts- Rwenzori region” impacted the communities as below;-
- Women and youth leaders worked as a team and have transformed the mindset of the communities to stop domestic violence especially GBV at family level and inter- tribal conflicts between indigenous and the refugees.
- Youth leaders formed youth human rights and peace building clubs in all the 15 sub counties that are currently spearheading human rights promotion and conflict resolution.
- With the prevailing peace in the region refugees got opportunities to buy land, work as taxi drivers, boda-boda riders in the host communities.
- One of the success stories documented was
- Two women won the LC5 Chairperson positions representing a 1.8% compared to 2011 where there was none.
- In 2016 36.3% female committee chairpersons were election in the 10th parliament.
