NEED TO KNOW HANDBOOK FOR STREET VENDORS UPON ARREST. NOVEMBER 2018.
This simplified handbook has been designed as a quick reference for stakeholders involved in the Street Vendors Referral Pathway. It is based on the recognition that state and non-state actors may accord street vendors through arrested medical, legal, and other forms of help as they transition through the justice system. It is also based on the recognition that the arrest of street vendors affects the arrested persons and the effect is felt by their immediate family (children, spouses, and dependents) as well as the communities they live in. It is therefore critical that there is a mechanism for referral and follow-up. The handbook will help the different stakeholders appreciate what to do in the event of arrest.WLEDE wishes to acknowledge and thank the authors, translators of this handbook, and stakeholders who participated in the development of the Referral Pathway. Special thanks and appreciation goes to the Urgent Action Fund for the financial support which enabled the development, printing, and translation of the handbook.
