2019 ANNUAL REPORT
The journey we walked together!
Dear Friends, colleagues and partners, 2019 was yet another successful year at Women Leadership Development
– WLEDE. We contributed to leadership capacity development of women and youth leaders in the economic and political sectors, reducing inequalities and strengthened our capacity to acquire the required
skills and knowledge. We accomplished all this through innovative interventions, effective cost management and partnerships. This allowed us to share knowledge, exchange thoughts with like-minded organisations and above all increased the visibility of our work.
Our report brings out the capacity development of women leaders in the political sector, women and youth in agri-business and natural resource management contributing to green employment, women leaders in the informal sector (street vendors & hawkers) and many others to claim their equal rights to lead and be heard.
We efficaciously concluded two projects one in Democracy and Good governance practice that earned WLEDE a renewal of the grant to scale up the activities in other regions of the country. Another one was in Economic Empowerment of the street vendors and hawkers that took us in a new area of operation that is still virgin
with minimal interventions yet if supported well it will improve the livelihood of many people in the urban poor communities.
More than ever, we contributed to the 2030 agenda for SDGs and its goals, particularly SDG1 - No poverty
and 5 – Gender equality. As we ended the year, WLEDE is stronger, better organized & prepared, more united and resilient, thanks to the Governance Board, Partners, stakeholders and more so to staff that made all the
achievements possible.
