Implementation of the project Beyond 2011: …. Started and attained success of the set goals. Creation of an enabling environment for the conduct of free and fair elections was tackled through: – Advocacy for the two electoral reform bills. The Constitutional Amendment bill 2013 and The Electoral Commission Amendment bill 2013 presented to the speaker of parliament as a first step to tabling and passing them into law.
In contributing to “increasing women’s participation in electoral process in Uganda” we first researched on challenges faced by the women contesting for regular constituency seats in parliament. A framework papers was development with findings and shared in a Validation meeting to political parties consulted, members of UWOPA, Civil organizations and the media.
